I was
unhappy about the reflex sight that came with the PS90
weapon. I was also unhappy about the bore to sight
height (4") and the incapability of the weapon to
accommodate other optics. I floated some ides on the
fivesevenforum for which I was banned - because
according to them, the PS90 is perfect. So I assumed an
alias and broached the subject with extreme trepidation.
It took all 3 posts to get me banned again for even
suggesting that the PS90 was somehow faulty and that I
wanted to "cut" into perfection. Why, they laughed, they
told me that I would break my PS90 into thousand pieces
taking the barrel off alone and they would buy my parts
on ebay.
Hence, this site, this
forum and Project X was born. I was tired of arguing
with juvenile forum admins that did not shoot or owned
the PS90 carbine. This rifle is not perfect, far from
it. This item should not cost more than the Beretta
Storm. FN saw a niche and they charge what the market
will bare. I fail to see why the civilian version costs
50% more than the Class III version of the same. I still
got one. Like you, I saw great potential in this
platform and an undeniable "cool factor" soon to be
banned. My thought was - better get one now.
Weapon is
only as good as its sighting system. If you can't aim at
what you are trying to hit then it's only a $1,700 paper
weight. So let's deal with that first. I had some
prototypes of how to accomplish this.
Prototype 1:
Cut the top off and weld on a 1918 rail
This was a good idea. But
I wanted this process to be easily accomplished and
inexpensive. I also wanted to keep the receiver as
original as possible in case FN came out with a descent
reflex.
